A 13 Year-Old Shoots Gallery
One of the best parts of being a parent is getting to exposure your kids to the things you love. The latest round of Gallery at USAIR was my son’s 3rd Final Bout event. I will admit that I’ve sort of been stacking the “style” deck, by only bringing him to these event in case he takes up drifting when he gets older.
At each event I hand him my camera and set him loose. He takes some great pictures. With Covid putting a hamper on the 2020 season, he was excited for Gallery and had no idea it was going to be his first time riding in a drift car.
I’d been planning to take him out for his first time in my S13, but he might be a senior citizen by the time I get that car done. Drake from Breaking is a close friend and when he offered to take him out for a lap I couldn’t say no. I think he may have been praying to the god of Bomex…
Drake took him out on advanced course, and while he didn’t go super-aggressive, he made sure to give my son a thrill ride. When I asked him what he thought when they came back in, he said it felt like a rollercoaster…
