Neo Project's Super-Wide Silvia
I was on the 326power website the other day and stumbled upon these pictures of a new S15 build by Neo Project for MSC Challenge. If you aren’t familiar with Neo Project, it’s a shop based in Fukuoka that has been a big part of drifting in southern Japan since the 90s. They’ve also had a long relationship with Haruguchi, so you’ll see plenty of 326power products on their cars, from aero to wheels.
Their new MSC Challenge build is adorned with the new 326power “Neo GT” aero kit., which I suspect was designed by Seiya and Tatsuya from Neo Project in collaboration with Haruguchi.
My first impression was that it looked like a GT300 car, which I’m sure was the idea considering how wide everything is and how the fenders were designed.
I’ll always prefer the look of a street car, but I can appreciate “pro” builds. Honestly, I think this looks pretty damn cool with all the race car elements and livery.
It still baffles me that this is what an MSC Challenge car has become. Back when I drove it was basically D1SL Divisional, but with an additional triple-car class at the end of day. Now it’s basically a feeder for FD Japan, and if you don’t show up with a nearly pro-level car, you can’t compete.
The fenders look absolutely massive from this angle, but according to the 326power website the rears are only +55mm and the fronts are only +65mm.
Take away the livery, race car elements, stick on the wrong wheels with a goofy amount of negative camber and this kit looks not good at all…
Here’s hoping we don’t see this on anything but pro cars, but considering 326 has this entire setup priced at only 198,000JPY (~$1,400USD) someone is stick it on some poor street car.
